Anita Raju Londhe

Anita Raju Londhe, a 52-year-old fruit seller from Pune, undertook a challenging journey to Nagar via Mumbai during the lockdown. Managing her finances through savings and borrowing, Anita, informed by neighbors, walked the entire way. The journey, spanning 10-15 days, was marked by a severe lack of food, water, and shelter, leading to significant fatigue.

Despite some minimal aid from an NGO, she faced a lack of healthcare and was quarantined upon arrival. Due to the dearth of good job options in her hometown, Anita returned to the city for work.

She emphasizes the need for a clear timeline for blue-collar workers to leave cities before lockdowns, and encourages the wealthy to help the poor during such crises.
