Mohammad Habib, a migrant worker from Odisha, was left stranded when the pandemic struck and the nationwide lockdown was imposed. With no transport available and no financial means to survive in the city, he and six other workers decided to journey back to their hometown in Jharkhand, relying on just four shared bicycles.
Braving the intense summer heat, they pedaled for hundreds of kilometers, often going without food and relying on roadside handouts and occasional help from locals. The journey was filled with exhaustion, dehydration, and police roadblocks, yet they kept moving—driven by the only goal that mattered: reaching home. His story is a powerful reminder of the hardships and resilience of migrant workers, who were forced to endure unimaginable conditions just to return to their families.
