Pawan Malhari Dattu, a 37-year-old sanitation worker from Pune, traveled to Hadapsar and then to Latur during the lockdown. Using his savings and borrowing 20-25,000 INR, he set off on foot, occasionally receiving lifts from passersby and vehicles.

Informed about the lockdown through YouTube news, he had no instructions or support and endured an 8-10 day journey marked by scarce food, water, and extreme exhaustion. Passersby occasionally helped with food and lifts. Upon reaching home, he was quarantined for 15 days.

Finding no decent work in his native place, Pawan returned to the city to continue housekeeping work, hoping for better communal support if such a situation arises again.
