Rekha

Rekha, a 40-year-old housekeeping maid from Someshwarwadi, Pune, journeyed to Nanded during the lockdown. She was informed about the lockdown by her husband, who heard it from a friend. Without any external instructions or support, they prepared themselves and made the entire journey on foot.

Scarcity of food and water marked their travel, and they took shelter under shade whenever possible, surviving on puffed rice and dry grams. The journey took a toll on Rekha's health, and upon reaching home, they were quarantined in a shelter home for 20 days.

With no work available in the village, they returned to the city, where Rekha resumed housekeeping jobs to support her family. No external support or assistance was received during this period.
