Saguna

Saguna, a 34-year-old resident of Someshwadi, Pune, traveled to Talegaon Dabhade during the lockdown. With only her old savings and no prior information except for discussions in her slum, she faced a challenging journey. They had to walk the entire distance, experiencing severe exhaustion, scarce food and water, and safety concerns regarding shelter, especially for her children.

The journey took 4-5 days, and despite the hardships, they received no help or support. Upon arrival, she found no decent work in her home area and had to return to the city for employment.

Saguna hopes such lockdowns are avoided in the future, emphasizing the need for better preparation and support for migrants.
